So how do you balance life when you have one foot in the world of the living and the other in the world of the dead? This is a question that I find myself pondering quite often, especially in the quiet moments when I can hear the whispers of those who have passed beyond our realm. It’s a delicate dance, one that requires a unique blend of intuition, patience, and an unwavering sense of duty to both my family and the spirits that seek my attention.
Being a mum is tough. It’s an endless cycle of responsibilities, from the mundane tasks of cooking and cleaning to the more complex challenges of nurturing the emotional and mental well-being of my children. I’m constantly running here and there, juggling school pick-ups, extracurricular activities, and the inevitable chaos that comes with managing three kids. Each day is a whirlwind of energy, noise, and love, yet it is also punctuated by moments of profound connection to the other side.
Oh, and let’s not forget the added layer of complexity that comes with being a single mum of three children. The weight of that responsibility is immense, and it often feels like I’m carrying the world on my shoulders. The demands of daily life can be overwhelming, yet I find myself navigating through it all with a sense of purpose. My children rely on me for everything, and I strive to be the best parent I can be, even when the challenges seem insurmountable.
However, my reality is further complicated by the presence of the deceased, who seem to have little or no regard for the demands of my earthly life. They pop in unexpectedly, often during the most inconvenient times, seeking connection, closure, or simply a moment to share their thoughts. It’s as if they are aware of my dual existence and choose to interrupt my daily routine with their messages from beyond. This can be both a blessing and a curse, as I feel honored to be a conduit for their voices, yet it often comes at the expense of my own peace and quiet.
Well, life is never quiet, and I am pretty sure my kids get sick and tired of hearing me scream through the night as visitors decide to visit me—waking me from the depths of peaceful sleep to chat. These late-night conversations can range from comforting messages to urgent requests, and while I try to maintain a semblance of normalcy for my children, there are times when the veil between the worlds feels particularly thin. My children often hear me speaking softly to unseen presences, and I can see the curiosity and confusion in their eyes. They are growing up with an understanding that life and death are intertwined, and while I strive to protect their innocence, I also want them to embrace the mysteries of existence.
In navigating this unique existence, I have learned to carve out moments of solitude amidst the chaos that life often presents. In our fast-paced world, where distractions abound and responsibilities seem to multiply, finding these quiet pockets of time has become a sanctuary for my soul. I practice mindfulness and meditation to ground myself, immersing in the stillness that allows me to reconnect with my own spirit, my inner self, and recharge my energy. These practices not only help me to clear my mind but also foster a deeper awareness of my thoughts and feelings, enabling me to approach life with a sense of calm and clarity. Furthermore, I have developed a routine that honours both my earthly responsibilities and my spiritual connections. This routine is not merely a schedule; it is a carefully crafted balance that allows me to fulfil my duties as a parent while remaining receptive to the subtle whispers of the universe. I dedicate specific times each day for reflection, whether it be through journaling, quiet contemplation, or simply sitting in nature, observing the beauty around me. This balance is essential, as it helps me to remain present for my children, engaging fully in their lives, while also being open to the messages that seek to come through from the spiritual realm.
It’s a continuous journey of understanding and acceptance, where I learn to embrace both the mundane and the mystical aspects of life. Each day brings new challenges and insights, and I am grateful for the lessons that both my children and the spirits impart to me every day. My children, with their innocent curiosity and unfiltered perspectives, remind me of the importance of joy and wonder. They teach me to see the world through fresh eyes, to appreciate the small moments that often go unnoticed, and to find beauty in the simplest of experiences.
Meanwhile, the spiritual messages that come to me—whether through dreams, signs, or intuitive feelings—serve as guidance, helping me navigate the complexities of my journey. In this intricate dance between the physical and spiritual realms, I strive to cultivate a life that is rich in meaning and connection. It is a path that requires patience and dedication, but the rewards are profound.
I am continually evolving, learning to trust the process and embrace each lesson with an open heart. This journey, filled with both challenges and triumphs, allows me to grow not only as an individual but also as a mother, a friend, and a spiritual being. I cherish the moments of solitude that provide clarity, the laughter shared with my children that brings joy, and the whispers of wisdom from the universe that guide me along the way.
